SEIB-Explorer 1.53 & SEIB-DGVM 3.15 Released

[New Features] Two new panels—”Simulation Information” and “Plant Properties”—have been added to the left-side information area.

To enable the display of time-series changes in CO₂ concentration within the “Simulation Information” panel, the format of the output file (output_for_viewer2.txt) has been partially extended. In line with this, the core code of SEIB-DGVM has been updated to version 3.15. The modification is limited to a single location within the SUBROUTINE output_for_viewer2 in output.f90, and this change does not affect simulation results or model behavior.

SEIB-Explorer 1.53 remains backward-compatible with the previous output_for_viewer2.txt format. In such cases, the only limitation is that the time-series of CO₂ concentration will not be displayed.

HI. I’ve just updated SEIB-Explorer!

I added two new panels to the information section on the left: Simulation Info and Vegetation Properties.
(1) The Simulation Info panel shows the simulation conditions, including the location, CO₂ concentration changes, and changes in annual average temperature and precipitation.
(2) The Vegetation Properties panel displays seasonal changes in biomass and leaf area index (LAI) for each plant functional type (PFT).

Now, the only major feature I still want to implement is the visualization of seasonal changes in vertical soil temperature distribution.
Also, due to performance concerns, I’d like to switch from monthly to daily display for items like LAI.
I’ve been using existing assets to implement the graph functions, but to tackle both of these issues, I’ll probably have to write the code myself.
That said, I plan to take full advantage of ChatGPT to make things easier.

I’m also steadily fixing various small bugs and odd behaviors as I find them.
My goal is to have a “provisional complete” version ready by the end of this summer.

After that, I plan to start developing a standalone version that includes the model itself and release it as an educational package.
Once that’s done, I want to add game-like features and explore ways to monetize it.
Plenty of ideas ahead!

This isn’t my main job, so I’m working on it little by little—but I intend to keep going without losing momentum.
